Timothy Lam will join our 2016 New Year Concert

We are very glad to announce that pianist Timothy Lam will join our 2016 New Year Concert!

This will be the second time Timothy attend New Year concert. As last year’s youngest performer, Timothy shows extraordinary talent in music. At last year’s concert, he played ‘Revolutionary’ and ‘Un Sorspiro ‘which were rated as ‘best performance’ by many audience. 

Timothy first encountered the piano through an after school program and has since shown a keen interest in music. In 2009 (at the age of 10), he started formal piano lessons with Mr. Sergei Pavlov, founder of Debut Piano Studio, and with Dr. Sofia Moshevich (from 2010-2013), and since 2014, has been under the tutelage of Mr. David Louie. He also credits his music theory teacher, Ms. Irina Kapran (from 2010-2013) for his many achievements.

Since 2009, Timothy consistently received numerous awards, trophies and scholarship from various music festivals, at regional, Provincial and national levels, including Kiwanis Music Festival, Davenport Festival, Mandarin Lions Music Festival and many more. In 2010, Timothy received the Age 10/under Concerto award from Markham Music Festival. Later he was awarded the Best of Bach Trophy by Yips Music Festival. In 2012, he was the recipient of the Kemble Trophy as the most outstanding youth pianist. Recent achievement is an honourable Mention Award at the 2014 OMFA Provincial Finals.

In his spare time, Timothy enjoys reading, listening to classical music, playing a variety of sports, electronic games. Currently in Grade 11, Timothy is a straight-A student at the Cardinal Carter Academy of the Arts in North York. He is also a scholarship student at the Phil&Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto.
