Victor Cheng and Kevin Lau will perform at our 2014 New Year Concert

In our 2013 New Year Concert, many of us were deeply amazed and impressed by an amazing performance of the Harry Potter theme song. This year, the very same performers, Victor Cheng and Kevin Lau will perform again at our 2014 New Year Concert!

Victor and Kevin are co-founders and Artistic Directors of Sneak Peek Orchestra, a Toronto-based ensemble comprised of young musicians and emerging professionals. Founded in August 2007, the orchestra’s mission is to foster an appreciation for classical music as a vibrant and living art form through the promotion of young musical talents.

Graduated from the University of Toronto with a B. Mus in Jazz Piano Performance, Victor has gained a high reputation in performing with different orchestras and in many concerts. As a conductor and pianist, Victor is on popular demand for recording sessions, recitals and concerts, having worked with Toronto Philharmonia, University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, University of Toronto Wind Symphony, Madawasaka String Quartet, Toronto Wind Quintet, Bach Children’s Chorus, and Vocal Horizons Chamber Choir. His orchestral composition Fountain of Dreams was selected as the winner of both the 2005 Mississauga Young Composers’ Competition and the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra Composer’s Competition in 2008/09. He was recently awarded the 2010 Karen Kieser Prize in Canadian Music for his composition Starsail.

Kevin recently completed his doctorate in music composition from the University of Toronto. He served as composer-in-residence for the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (2010-12) and was one of two emerging resident composers at the Banff Centre (summer of 2012). He was recently appointed as an Affiliate Composer of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (2012-14).

We are all looking forward to Victor and Kevin’s performances!
